Venue
The IVOA May 2024 Interoperability Meeting will be organised by Australian Astronomical Optics and held at Macquarie University Wallumattagal Campus (the main campus) in the MQ Arts Precinct, located 15 kilometres from Sydney's city centre, in one of the largest business and technology precincts in the Southern Hemisphere.
Logistics
The 2024 Sydney Interop will be held on the main campus of Macquarie University, which is about 20km north west of Central Sydney (Opera House, Harbour Bridge etc). It is accessible via Metro and bus from the surrounding area. The Metro line runs from the outer suburbs of Sydney through Macquarie University and then to Chatswood. There are connecting trains to the city from Chatswood.
There are a lot of accommodation in the nearby suburbs of Macquarie Park, North Ryde and Chatswood (all on the same Metro line). Prices start at around $200-$250AUD (~120-150 Euros) per night. We recommend sites like Booking.com to search for the broad range of accommodation available.
There are plenty of dining options in Chatswood, and some in North Ryde. Alternatively there are many dining options near Sydney Town Hall (about 25-30 minutes by direct train from Chatswood) as well as Circular Quay and The Rocks; the latter is the oldest part of Sydney.
More detailed information will be provided in the coming weeks.
